The Importance of Creativity in Education

1 May

My friend posted this video on her blog. She and I share the same love and gratitude for our High School Creative Writing  Teacher Mrs. Bean. I am so thankful I had the experience and privilge of having Creative Art teachers who allowed me to have free reign on my creativity in school. I was able to sculpt whatever I wanted, paint/draw whatever I was inspired to do and write whatever my heart felt. For that, I found happiness where I could have easily remained in tears. This video illustrates beautifully why it’s so important to allow our kids and even encourage our kids to be creative and energetic. It’s how they learn and become strong and independent minded individuals. It’s how they sculpt our future, their future, and their kids future. We should not hold them back from their potential:

Elementary, Jr. High, and High School education is one of the most vital parts of human development. It’s where are minds grow, it’s where we find who we are and where we’re going in life. It walks hand in hand with development in the home. As he explained with kids easily being diagnosed as ADHD, if children are both held back in school and in home – then their future is easily hopeless. But if one, home/school – sets the child free – they are trusted, they are loved and they are allowed to feel they can do and be whomever they wish – there is hope. The education system cannot bank on the child being creative at home. They should step forward and be that creative outlet first and foremost, because in doing so- the child will desire to be more, because they crave to be. :)

Hi There

18 Apr

Hello world. I thought I’d take a peek and see how you all were doing. Show you my busy, not as tired, now healthy, now happy face that I’ve kept hidden away for awhile.

Clark and I have been going to the doctor and getting straightened out. Our spines are healtheir – and we notice our minds are getting healthier too. We’re not as drained as we used to be. Clark calls me more ‘zen’ and I call him more ‘motivated’. I will be posting my review of our new doctor very soon.

I’ve been busy busy busy with my job. I now sit on a Yoga ball to work. Keeps my back straight.

The Doctor says that I need to keep my chin down and back of my head pulled up. Feels weird. I hope it works and I don’t have to force it for very long. Doctor also says that I need to push my chest out more and my shoulder blades down…. hmm….

This morning Clark woke me up and took me out for breakfast by surprise. We had so much fun we decided to drive out to the Beach. We had so much fun there, by the time we were done at the beach – we drove down to the newly opened Cafe Rio in Los Angeles by LAX airport. Yum! After this, we drove back to our little world and drove up to the very top of the Target Parking garage, it’s on the 6th level that we’ve never been too. Not one single car there, and had a beautiful view.

Then we came home and I slept for 4 hours. SO tired from too much fun. After too much fun, I worked for two hours, we then watched one of my favorite shows, Merlin. Started having so much fun again, we decided to have a late night visit with our friends, but the one was sleeping and the other was baking bread. She (Claire) gave us a loaf to bring home and cook in the oven. Cranberry Wheat Soda Bread. Never had it before, and it is SO GOOD. Eating a hot slice right now. Too much fun. :D

Now I must sleep. 2AM and we have 9AM church. Good night.

I’m Only Human After All

10 Mar

As happy as I have been lately, these kind of days today are inevitable, normal, and part of the natural man (aka – human). Today, my body and mind wants nothing but these items:

Dark Chocolate

Big Fluffy Bed

My spirit wants to do these:

Work

Two female joggers on foggy Morro Strand State Beach

Exercise

Today I’m just tired, worn out – looking forward to tomorrow. Tomorrow will be better. :)

A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That

20 Feb

Big Sur - Into The SunYes, yes – we are still alive. ;) Our life as of late has been filled with Working, Exercising (and losing weight :D ) , and enjoying the sunny State of California. Clark just made it official for him as a California Resident with his brand new flashy yellow Cali Drivers License and I can’t wait to receive mine within the next few weeks! :) We love our home and as we’re settling here officially, we are overcome with new love for this area. It has always been a little confusing  – “Do we stay, or do we move?” We’re still a little bit unsure of where we make our home ‘for good’, but settling here and registering has caused us to move a little more on the ‘stay’ side than on the moving. Clark was SO excited to hold his brand new Cali license and he can’t wait to register the car. Which is unusual for him because he always is a bit nervous (and so am I) about how much it’ll cost. California is known for being a more expensive place to live. So it was shocking for us both to feel excited about being “Cali Residents”. We love the sunshine, the beach, and the star-struck atmosphere of our Hollywood home. We’re happy that we’re making things more official. Extra cost and all, we make it work – and have fun doing it at the same time. :)

We’ve been successful in making each Saturday more fun and relaxing by doing activities we aren’t able to fit in during the week. Clark just had a REALLY fun job last Thursday shooting Green Screen for a digitally animated Museum tour for a fancy museum for New York. If I am correct, this was the first time he shot on Green Screen, and he said it was easier than he thought, and also a fun creative experience. He had to visualize the scene in his head and light the actors as if the surrounding elements were present. He loved it! He also just barely applied for a video job for a touring family who has a show on the travel channel. Their concept of their show is to “find the perfect place to live”. They high-light popular cities all across the U.S. It would take him away for 3 months, which we are a little bummed about, but he would make some great money, have a lot of fun and gain a lot of experience, so we can’t be too sad about that. :) I’m so proud of him!

Things have been going really well for us this year. I knew from the moment 2010 hit that this year would be a year filled with GOOD things for our little family. Monumental changes for us physically and mentally, a prosperous year and an overall memorable year. Only good things happening for this Cooper Family and we’re loving every minute of it! We are so blessed!
