To my disappointment I woke up this morning to get to work. I work better with music, so I loaded up my Pandora and a notice popped up saying I’ve used up my 40 free hours of listening. I could pay 99cents to listen for “free” the rest of the month or $36 for the entire year, including a removal of all the ads. The ads have never bothered me, and I wasn’t inclined to set up another online credit card to pay 99cents for a “free” service. So… Clark suggested I set up another account. Pandora is SO SMART! I tried every which way to try and get to the registration page – Clark even reset our IP address. HOW does Pandora know it’s me trying to hack the system?!
Good for them. They’ve thought of people like me.
I could just load my iTunes… but I have so many programs running on my computer when I’m doing everything, iTunes is just one more big program to have running. Plus, I’ve used iTunes on 5 different computers now, I don’t have the time to reset the authorization stuff (it’s there way of trying to prevent music hackers from passing around free music… ) right now.
So, without Pandora – who is there to allow me to listen to music while I work, free online?
I Googled “Better than Pandora” and Last.fm came up. Who are they? I am currently listening to their services right now, and I have to say – not bad, not bad. A bit harder to navigate, not as simple as Pandora… but it’s free music listening online and I am not complaining. We’ll just see if they have a 99cent charge that pops up ….

Update: I found that the best alternative thus far has been Yahoo Radio at Radio.Yahoo.com. Feels like listening to Pandora.
It’s worked so far to switch between the two.
Happy as a clam!
