If You're Hooked on Bachelorette – Jillian, You'll Want To Read This

Before you yell out in frustration to Jillian about her ridiculous decision about Wes, take this report for food for thought… it made me think twice.

I’m just as frustrated with Jillian about Wes, as I am sure you all are. But when I read the following, it made me think twice about him… and about EVERYTHING!

I feel a bit betrayed, but at the same time, I feel like I have now — new ‘lenses’ on about what I watch. Learning to question the motives of the producers of this show and other Reality shows. To take into consideration Editing… and possibly scripting. Sad that ‘Reality’ can’t really be reality.

I’m sure as you were watching last nights episode, afterwards you said aloud, “I can’t believe Jillian gave Wes a rose after he said all that stuff. How can she be so stupid?” I know I did. But did you know, Wes did a bit on a radio show last week, reporting quite frankly that he got ’screwed’ with the editing on the show. I don’t doubt him. The following will open your eyes, I’m sure as it did mine in how I view his demeanor now:

In regards to him talking about being able to “taste the fame”, here’s what he said verbatim:

“But I can tell you that a lot of what was said was either taken out of context or it was edited in with voice overs, on different subject matters. For instance, like last night when I said, ‘I can taste the fame, I can feel it’, when I heard that, I almost fell on the floor and had a heart attack.

What I was talking about was, they (the producers) asked me a question, ‘What’s it like Wes when you’re writing a song?’ And I said, ‘Well, it’s kinda strange. Sometimes I can write a song in five minutes sometimes it takes me a few days, but, when it comes to me, it’s like I can feel it, I can taste it, it comes inside of me, and then it comes out on pen and paper.’ So, basically they can just take what I say, and take different sentences and put them together.

And in talking with the rest of the guys about “being here six episodes”, here’s what he had to say:

“They play the middle part of my conversation but they don’t play the beginning or the end. I was talking to the guys and I was saying, ‘You know guys, I understand there’s people that think I’m here for the wrong reasons. Well, I do have a CD coming out, I do need to be back home working. I said look, if I was just here for the fame and publicity, I’ve already made six shows, I’ve already got the publicity, but I’m still here, and I’m still here because I choose to be here. I want to be here for the girl, I want to see if anything happens between me and Jillian. I was definitely there for Jillian.’”

Here is the link to the radio clip:

Wes Interview

This really made me feel quite a bit of sympathy for him. It really also shocked me in how MUCH editors can do to skew your image of someone so dramatically, because I don’t think there is 1 girl who watches this show that isn’t steamed at Wes. But hopefully that will change, if the above is indeed true – which I don’t doubt. *Sigh*… just as Jillian said in the episode, which I can now empathize with: “I don’t know what to believe anymore…”

Click here to read more about all the show’s edits. Also in the linked article, there are excerpts from an article from a past Producer who explains how the interviewers on the show coarse the guys/girls into “crying” or gossiping about the other guys/girls. So unfair.

Improving Your Online Business Skills

Last Saturday Clark and I attended a business seminar put on by our Church here locally. It was REALLY good! It inspired us both on how we could improve our Work-From-Home businesses. Here are our notes:

F.I.T.

Financial Intelligence Test

Move away from transaction-based business toward Service-based model.

Discover your own Gold Mines.” – Make sure that what  you do, is what you know. Don’t go into a business of a bakery, if you have no idea how to cook! Don’t sell car parts, if you haven’t a clue how to change your own oil in your car. Do what makes sense, sell what you know!

*Did you know that 75% of people who purchase ‘how to improve your business’ books, only read the first 2 chapters?

I.D.E.A.L.

  • Income
  • Depreciation
  • Expandability
  • Asset Appreciation
  • Leverage

7 F’s

  1. Find the biz
  2. Fund the biz
  3. Fix or Fortify
  4. Franchise (systemize)
  5. Farm (grow)
  6. Flip it
  7. Finance on the way out

3 Requirements (must be in place; or DON’T get invovled)

  1. Synergy
  2. Leverage
  3. Scalability

Top 5 Website Mistakes

1. Flash Intro — SEO, 3 out of 4 people exit upon arrive.

2. Worry about how pretty it is — The purpose is to A) generate leads B) generate business from leads . Having a CLEAN website is far more important than how ‘pretty’ it is.

3. Have a POWERFUL Headline — Essentially you have 7 seconds to attract your visitor. Within those 7 seconds if you do not have eye-catching text (headline) a clean and readable website without distractions (Flash) then you more than likely will not keep your visitor interested and he/she will leave.

  • *The principles are the foundation – the foundation never changes.
  • *The domain changes from industry to industry
  • A good idea would be to hire a copywriter to write ‘eye-catching’ text for your website. Unreadable or uninteresting text can turn-off a visitor permanently. Well worth the investment to have your website well written to advertise and sell convincingly your product(s).

4. Must have a way to capture customers. The right-hand, upper side of your website has been studied extensively to be the #1 best place to place information capturing forms (i.e. FREE reports lead to sign ups, or in the case of a blog — ‘Subscribe to blog’ links. Newsletters DON’T WORK).

5. No call to action —> the next step.

MYTHS

False: It’s all about the HITS!

True: Visits are the important metric.

False: “I don’t need a website in MY business

True: Not having a website is like not having a phone.

False: “I just need a brochure site for now.”

True: You should be generating leads from your site every day of the week.

PAID GOOGLE ADS – Don’t work! Statistics show that 1 out of 7 people don’t click the paid ads in Google Search Results

*Paid marketing, however does work.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization, meaning optomizing website with rich high-ranking keywords to up your ranking in Google  Search Results – ORGANICALLY {not paid to rank high}) is different than SEM (Search Engine Marketing, meaning advertising your site to attract visitors).

“If you want to sell what Mr. Prospect buys, you have to see the world through Mr. Prospects Eyes.

False: “I took a class on the internet, so I’m up to speed.

True: You have the basics, learn MORE detail. Or hire.

Research your business idea (and keywords) BEFORE you invest time and money into starting it.

a. Anybody who tells you they can get you to the #1 position in Google is LYING.

b. Instead, take the long-tail keywords (the low-hanging fruit) and get more results.

c. “Have you done it for your own site? What cusotmers have you done it for?”

d. Get a team of experts. You need: 1) A CPA (A picture of the past) 2) A business Attorney (to tell you what you CAN’T do) 3) A mentor/coach to get a fresh perspective

*Typically, the lower the price you sell at, the lower the credibility. Instead provide superior service. Be in the relationship business.

Research drives the structure of your business and website.

I Have A Twin?

A friend approached me today and informed me that Randi on SYTYCD (so you think you can dance, TV show) – looks JUST like me! What do you think?

RebeccaCRandiSYTYCD_Twins

In the past I’ve also been compared to Chloe Agnew from Celtic Woman. Thoughts?

ChloeAgnew_CelticWoman_RebeccaCooperTwin

It really makes you wonder if there is a Cookie Cutter machine in Heaven that we base our looks upon. But then again, now that I think about it – our looks all stemmed from Adam and Eve – so essentially we all should look alike to some degree. Hmmm… Anyhow – always flattering to be compared to pretty women! :D

Who have you been compared to? Post & Link back! You’re all tagged :D

Alive and Doing Well

It’s almost been a week since I last posted on my blog. I know – very odd. Or..errr… maybe not – but it is rare for me. ;)

We have been ultra busy with work, and I have also had major Writer’s Block as I am still overwhelmed by my awesome birthday. I have received so many cards, notes, gifts, ‘party’s’ and comments that have really hit me hard (in a good way). Just soaking it all in while I ride the wave of life here. I’ve needed some quiet time to soak it in for fear it may all slip away. I am enjoying this time to myself.

I will be back soon with lots of words to share. Stay tuned. :)

p.s. Clark joined Twitter – Follow Him! ♥… when you haven’t heard from me on my blog – check out my Twitter. Sometimes as I have Writer’s Block on my Blog – I sometimes Twitter, because it’s easier at the time. :)

Where I Find My Strength

Yesterday, Clark and I read in 2 Nephi 4: 18-35 . This section I had marked from last year – during a time that I was feeling similarly ‘down’ and the words from Nephi had hit me so hard – so perfectly. It’s amazing how scripture ‘peaks through the cracks’ giving you inspiration – teaching you just what you need to hear, at the perfect moment. OR maybe it teaches you and brings to your attention something profound because you’re paying attention. Either way, it’s pretty cool. :)

[This is Nephi speaking]

18 I am encompassed about, because of the temptations and the sins which do so easily abeset me.

19 And when I desire to rejoice, my heart groaneth because of my sins; nevertheless, I know in whom I have atrusted.

20 My God hath been my asupport; he hath led me through mine bafflictions in the wilderness; and he hath preserved me upon the waters of the great deep.

21 He hath filled me with his alove, even unto the bconsuming of my flesh.

22 He hath confounded mine aenemies, unto the causing of them to quake before me.

23 Behold, he hath heard my cry by day, and he hath given me aknowledge by bvisions in the night-time.

24 And by day have I waxed bold in mighty aprayer before him; yea, my voice have I sent up on high; and angels came down and ministered unto me.

25 And upon the wings of his Spirit hath my body been acarried away upon exceedingly high mountains. And mine eyes have beheld great things, yea, even too great for man; therefore I was bidden that I should not write them.

26 O then, if I have seen so great things, if the Lord in his condescension unto the children of men hath avisited men in so much bmercy, cwhy should my dheart weep and my soul linger in the valley of sorrow, and my flesh waste away, and my strength slacken, because of mine afflictions?

27 And why should I ayield to sin, because of my flesh? Yea, why should I give way to btemptations, that the evil one have place in my heart to destroy my cpeace and afflict my soul? Why am I dangry because of mine enemy?

28 Awake, my soul! No longer adroop in sin. Rejoice, O my heart, and give place no more for the benemy of my soul.

29 Do not aanger again because of mine enemies. Do not slacken my strength because of mine afflictions.

30 Rejoice, O my aheart, and cry unto the Lord, and say: O Lord, I will praise thee forever; yea, my soul will rejoice in thee, my God, and the brock of my salvation.

31 O Lord, wilt thou aredeem my soul? Wilt thou deliver me out of the hands of mine enemies? Wilt thou make me that I may shake at the appearance of bsin?

32 May the gates of hell be shut continually before me, because that my aheart is broken and my spirit is contrite! O Lord, wilt thou not shut the gates of thy righteousness before me, that I may bwalk in the path of the low valley, that I may be strict in the plain road!

33 O Lord, wilt thou encircle me around in the robe of thy arighteousness! O Lord, wilt thou make a way for mine escape before mine benemies! Wilt thou make my path straight before me! Wilt thou not place a stumbling block in my way—but that thou wouldst clear my way before me, and hedge not up my way, but the ways of mine enemy.

34 O Lord, I have atrusted in thee, and I will btrust in thee forever. I will not put my ctrust in the arm of flesh; for I know that cursed is he that putteth his dtrust in the arm of flesh. Yea, cursed is he that putteth his trust in man or maketh flesh his arm.

35 Yea, I know that God will give aliberally to him that asketh. Yea, my God will give me, if I bask cnot amiss; therefore I will lift up my voice unto thee; yea, I will cry unto thee, my God, the drock of my erighteousness. Behold, my voice shall forever ascend up unto thee, my rock and mine everlasting God. Amen.

Wow. I thought to myself – if NEPHI – this great man, a Hero nonetheless – can struggle as we do… wow. This amazed me. And how incredible is it that I came across this scripture just in the time I needed to hear it! Truly a miracle and a manifestation of God – that HE DOES HEAR MY PRAYERS! :D

I prayed last night and I prayed this morning for assistance and guidance in getting back on track. I hate my ‘down times’, but honestly – hearing that Nephi struggled with temptations and down times too was so comforting for me. I mean, I feel bad for Nephi – that he had to go through those times, but to see him pull through them with Faith and continued strength is such a inspiration for me.

During my own personal study, I went to D&C and have this section of scripture linked to the above from Nephi:

D&C 11: 11-14

11 For, behold, it is I that speak; behold, I am the alight which shineth in darkness, and by my bpower I give these words unto thee.

12 And now, verily, verily, I say unto thee, put your atrust in that bSpirit which cleadeth to do dgood—yea, to do ejustly, to walk fhumbly, to gjudge righteously; and this is my Spirit.

13 Verily, verily, I say unto you, I will impart unto you of my Spirit, which shall aenlighten your bmind, which shall fill your soul with cjoy;

14 And then shall ye know, or by this shall you know, all things whatsoever you desire of me, which are pertaining unto things of arighteousness, in faith believing in me that you shall receive.
D&C 90: 24
24 Search adiligently, bpray always, and be believing, and call things shall work together for your good, if ye walk uprightly and remember the dcovenant wherewith ye have covenanted one with another.

What a testimony boost. Absolutely amazing. I mean, I know why these scriptures hit me so hard and are just what I need to hear and be reminded of time and time again. Because I ask God for help. It’s a simple as that. :)
