"I am asking that we stop seeking out the storms and enjoy more fully the sunlight. I am suggesting that as we go through life, we 'accentuate the positive.' I am asking that we look a little deeper for the good. . Look for the sunlight through the clouds" -- President Gordon B. Hinckley ("The Continuing Pursuit of Truth," Ensign, Apr. 1986, 2-4).

FamilySearch, a genealogy Web site maintained by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, announced yesterday its agreement with Footnote.com to publish two Civil War-era databases online — the 1860 U.S. Census and the Civil War Pensions Index. The two collections will provide free online access to millions of names of individuals from 1860 to 1865 in the United States.

The Web site also announced new enhancements to its Family History Library catalog, which will improve functionality for the millions of users of the site.

This is exciting. I love genealogy. I need to do mine on my biological father’s side. My mom is going to make me a family tree with what she has gathered on her side and I know I am going to get the “varlope” of one of the ancestors with his name and a date on it (1827 I think). A varlope is a tool that people working with wood used to make piece of wood perfectly straight and smooth. I wanted to get some of the stuff from my great-grzat-grand mother but then nothing will remain for my sisters so I told my mother that they can have it, after all I already got HER NOSE and this is great enough :o)
Teah you can’t see me so just believe me. My nose is the best piece of my face. I love it. It is pretty and nobody had it since this woman. So it is the one thing I share with a woman who had lead a life that has inspired me. My sisters can get the other stuff…I GOT THE NOSE!

Cool! I love genealogy, and the more free information out there, the better!
