An Unplanned Date

17 Jul

Clark and I have been BUSY this week with work. Especially for Clark yesterday, he didn’t stop moving! He was shipping out orders, buying supplies left and right. The moment he finished was just in time for dinner and we decided to make a quick spontaneous decision to celebrate our weeks success with work and no better place than, the beach :)

We hopped in the car and drove down to Santa Monica Pier:

We had fun walking along the beach and splashing in the waves at night after dinner. For dinner we were going to go to Bubba Gumps, we reserved a spot and everything. The wait was 35min, which wasn’t a big deal because we could walk around the pier. We got down to the very end and we saw Mariasol Mexican Restaurant and just decided to peak our heads in and saw there was only a 5min wait and we could get a table pretty much on the edge of the pier right next to the water! The food was OK, the waiter seemed to be having a bad night… there was a guy with a parrot on his shoulder (literally) who was seated next to us. We had been there already about 15min, he ordered, received his food, ate and paid and left by the time we barely got our ordered meal. So yeah – the food and service wasn’t great, but the location was awesome. We still had fun!

An incredibly romantic night, we can’t wait to do it again! ♥

Fairy Tale Romance

11 Jul

Can Fairy tales come true? I don’t know, but it sure feels like it!

Clark and I have been having a lot of fun lately. Having fun being spontaneous at a moments notice and taking random drives to random places and eating some pretty good food here and there. I think what makes the biggest difference to the romantic-like essence of the day is how you perceive it to affect you. Clark and I like to proclaim acts of spontaneity in the name of ‘romantic’. Like a drive to a distant city to go shopping, or a trip to the beach, or to our favorite park. It makes it more special, even if its something we just did the other day or this is the 30th time we’ve done this. :)

All these fun exciting things have really strengthened our love for one another. It helps remind us how important it is to look to the others needs and naturally you’ll receive whatever you need in return. Focusing on ‘whats in it for them‘ instead of ‘what’s in it for me’ is a key to happiness in any relationship I feel.

Sometimes Clark wants to go somewhere, but I’m right in the middle of something, or I’m really not feeling up to it. But I look into his eyes and see that he really needs to get out and I just bite the bullet and go. I almost always end up having just as much fun as he does! Having made the sacrifice, the romance just blossoms in front of our eyes, because he in turn meets my needs either that same day or later in the week because he was nourished by me fulfilling his needs and he naturally wants to do the same for me because the attraction of love is alive and active.

A few fun and romantic things we’ve done this week include:

  • Walks around our favorite park with a lake
  • A trip to Burbank Mall to purchase some cute clothes
  • Eating out at some restaurants we’ve never been to and discovered them as our new favorites! One is ‘Bill’s Hamburgers’, cute little hole in the wall, size of a snow-cone shack, has THE BEST hamburgers in LA! SOOOooooo good!
  • Spontaneous trip to the beach yesterday, SO fun! We played in the waves, sat and had lunch on the beach and watched the people. Extremely fun day!
  • Staying in after shopping for some healthy snacks at Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s, curled up in a comfy blanket together and watching a chick flick is another favorite thing to do for us. This week we watched Dear John. We LOVED it!
  • Clark serenaded me with the guitar the other night. Oh, swoooon ♥♥♥♥

I really love this guy. I’m one lucky woman. ♥

A Tale of Two Loves

20 Jun

Once upon a time…

There was this girl…

…who met this boy…

[her]“He seems alright…” [him]“I hope she likes me…”

[him]“Here, have this flower!”

[her]“Oh, so pretty. Please put it in my hair…” [him]“Oh, yes of course! Here you go!”

Success! I think she likes it!

…and they lived happily ever after…

[him] “She likes me!”

The End.

Words and Actions to Warm the Heart

10 Jun

Clark sent me an e-card today. This type of action of love is what reminds me that it doesn’t take a lot to show someone you care and love them. Be it a spouse, family member, friend, or someone you just met in life. You don’t have to travel a thousand miles, you don’t have to purchase expensive gifts. There are so many ‘free’ actions that help nourish your relationship and help you feel connected.

At least for me, the simple actions can mean more than money could buy. :)
