Before you yell out in frustration to Jillian about her ridiculous decision about Wes, take this report for food for thought… it made me think twice.
I’m just as frustrated with Jillian about Wes, as I am sure you all are. But when I read the following, it made me think twice about him… and about EVERYTHING!
I feel a bit betrayed, but at the same time, I feel like I have now — new ‘lenses’ on about what I watch. Learning to question the motives of the producers of this show and other Reality shows. To take into consideration Editing… and possibly scripting. Sad that ‘Reality’ can’t really be reality.
I’m sure as you were watching last nights episode, afterwards you said aloud, “I can’t believe Jillian gave Wes a rose after he said all that stuff. How can she be so stupid?” I know I did. But did you know, Wes did a bit on a radio show last week, reporting quite frankly that he got ’screwed’ with the editing on the show. I don’t doubt him. The following will open your eyes, I’m sure as it did mine in how I view his demeanor now:
In regards to him talking about being able to “taste the fame”, here’s what he said verbatim:
“But I can tell you that a lot of what was said was either taken out of context or it was edited in with voice overs, on different subject matters. For instance, like last night when I said, ‘I can taste the fame, I can feel it’, when I heard that, I almost fell on the floor and had a heart attack.
What I was talking about was, they (the producers) asked me a question, ‘What’s it like Wes when you’re writing a song?’ And I said, ‘Well, it’s kinda strange. Sometimes I can write a song in five minutes sometimes it takes me a few days, but, when it comes to me, it’s like I can feel it, I can taste it, it comes inside of me, and then it comes out on pen and paper.’ So, basically they can just take what I say, and take different sentences and put them together.
And in talking with the rest of the guys about “being here six episodes”, here’s what he had to say:
“They play the middle part of my conversation but they don’t play the beginning or the end. I was talking to the guys and I was saying, ‘You know guys, I understand there’s people that think I’m here for the wrong reasons. Well, I do have a CD coming out, I do need to be back home working. I said look, if I was just here for the fame and publicity, I’ve already made six shows, I’ve already got the publicity, but I’m still here, and I’m still here because I choose to be here. I want to be here for the girl, I want to see if anything happens between me and Jillian. I was definitely there for Jillian.’”
Here is the link to the radio clip:
This really made me feel quite a bit of sympathy for him. It really also shocked me in how MUCH editors can do to skew your image of someone so dramatically, because I don’t think there is 1 girl who watches this show that isn’t steamed at Wes. But hopefully that will change, if the above is indeed true – which I don’t doubt. *Sigh*… just as Jillian said in the episode, which I can now empathize with: “I don’t know what to believe anymore…”

Well. . . I realize you wrote this before you saw last week’s episode. I couldn’t BELIEVE he actually SAID, “If I go home, I’ll be having lots of sex” and then in the car afterwards he bragged about getting to the top 4 with a girlfriend and said that he was acting the whole time. I think he’s the biggest jerk I’ve ever seen on ANY season of Bachelor or Bachelorette! What do you think now, after seeing that last episode??
I am going to have to agree. I mean, I realize that any network can edit A LOT – but C’MON! Did they REALLY edit to such an extreme?
I heard an interview of his where he admitted there were a few quotes (like the one you mentioned) where he did actually say that. So, it leaves me to wonder what was pieced together and what was what he actually said. Who knows, I’m just glad he’s gone!
I hope this teaches other people to do their homework about what show they choose to go on.
