Day 1 of UT Dr. Trip
22 Aug
The flight was great, I spoke with some very interesting people. I am so much like my Mom – I even try not to be. We both end up making lifelong friends after going on an airplane. I couldn’t resist talking to the person next me so – I whipped out my ear-buds from my iPod and two hours later I had a best friend!
I love the Burbank Airport because you get the fun exciting experience of walking on the ground to climb up a flight of stairs to get to your seat on the plane. It’s not everyday you see your plane that you’re trusting to fly you safely from this angle:
When I arrived in UT, this was the whole day:
- Hug my Mom
- Drive immediately to Whole Foods to buy food for me
- Hug my Sister Amy and rub her blossoming pregnant belly – baby boy due in a little over 1.5 months! p.s. She’s coloring my hair next Thursday! HURRAY!
- Drive to My other sister’s house – Maren – Hug her, baby-sit her 3 year old girl Megan, chat with Maren for a few then…
- Go eat dinner with the family – Mom overcooked the Gluten Free Noodles – now mushy – gross – sad for my Mom that she felt bad about messing up the noodles – hug and kiss her and told her I’d be happy to cook tomorrow
- Appointment with my Therapist! AWESOME meeting! He taught me
the ABC technique in dealing with my Anxiety, my ups & downs and even how to strengthen Clark’s and my relationship: Accept –> Breathe –> Choose . Instead of letting the Anxiety rule your life – Accept the situation —> Breathe through it (Notice your surroundings, engage in a conversation, divert your attention away from the Alarm of the Anxiety) –> Choose to face the fear, the angst, instead of letting it take over. My therapist encouraged me to make challenges for myself in facing the situations that cause me high anxiety (i.e. Being in an area, situation, environment where I can’t see a restroom. I literally have a panic attack about not having the ability to run to a bathroom easily if I need to), that cause me to be down and rate how I’m feeling in facing those fears. 0-10 if it’s a 10, step back and take a break then re-face it. If it’s a 0-3 it’s too easy and most likely I’m choosing to allow the Anxiety/Fear to take over. He told me I need to be between a 3 & 6. There is SO much more that I learned – it was an AWESOME session! I’ll write more about it in a future post. - Now I’m back home writing this update to you all and then my Mom and I are going to watch a movie
Clark’s Scavenger Hunt Day 1
Welcome to your surprise! You found the first envelope and there will be more to come.
I miss you already, and I love you so much. This hunt is to help you feel like I’m still around and also to remind you of special moments throughout our life thus far.
First, there will be a daily YouTube Video to spark special memories that made us laugh, cry and develop our love.
See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oao58LsKn64
Also, there will be a treat that I KNOW you love to find each day. Today’s isn’t so hard to find as the $5 bill in this envelope should be obvious enough of what I’m suggesting for dinner tonight + the treat to find: LITTLE CAESARS!!!![]()
Another daily activity and suggestion of something fun, today’s is: Using your free Blockbuster Coupon and going to Blockbuster to rent both 24 first season disc 1 & Alias first season disc 1
Dinner (I have your entire weeks’ dinner schedule planned! I want you to eat healthy – EVEN if I’m not there!): Pizza is the exception tonight![]()
With all these fun things to do this evening, I would love for you to take the Teddy Bear that you gave me for our 6 month Anniversary that we appropriately named ‘Tattered Teddy’ and take a picture that shows How You Found What You Found + How You Found It. That’s picture 1 of 2 and the 2nd is to show me how you’re enjoying the activity list I’ve given youBe as creative as you want – but the object in these pictures should illustrate the result of where and how you found the treat & the Teddy Bear representing ‘you’.

He sent me a text that said he LOVED the surprise, and thanked me over and over for putting so much love, time and effort into the extravagant surprise and he’s having SO MUCH FUN! (Yes! I scored!)

Wow, you are SUCH a great wife! Clark is so lucky! That is the cutest scavenger hunt I’ve ever seen and I love the pictures he sent to you with the teddy bear.
I’m glad you’re having a great time and lots of success in Utah so far!
Hey Becky!
I’m glad you arrived safely to Utah and that the session with your therapist went so well! Its always helpful to have someone to help see things in a new light and help you understand how to better handle situations. So, if you have time, we’d love to see you while you’re here-let us know! Hope you enjoy your time with your family!
Steph : )
Have a great trip rebecca, you are a good wife I usually just stack the freezer full of frozen burritos and pizza for Eric!! I was planning on inviting Clark over for dinner on Sunday, I’m out Fri and sat night but if he wants company he is more than welcome to come over and hang out with Eric. Hope you get some answers.
me again, BTW you have to get Twilight, just borrow it, I did. Its wonderful. I know you tried to trade it for a picture but I don’t own the books and I wanted to do the box thing and I know what I would put in it I just can’t spend extra money on it right now, maybe in a month or so.
“We both end up making lifelong friends after going on an airplane.”
Talking with people on the plane can be so fun. I am looking forward to my trip for Halloween.
